Our programs include conferences, webinars, courses, and workshops, including some online and in-person offerings.

AANE’s 2024 Virtual Daniel W. Rosenn Symposium – Autism and the Movies: October 25, 2024
This two-hour, live, virtual event will delve into the representation of autism in film. Leading experts in the fields of movie making and visual storytelling will discuss how autism is portrayed on the big screen and how that has changed over time, its impact on public understanding and perception, and the importance of authentic representation.
Conferences / Symposiums
AANE holds one conference and two symposiums each year. The audience for both the conference and symposiums is Autistic adults, family members of Autistic individuals, and professionals who work with the autism community.
Winter – Jody Acford Conference:
This conference focuses on supports for Autistic adults and is open to adults, families, and professionals. Previous conferences included sessions on:
- Financial planning
- Healthcare
- Housing
- Transportation
Fall & Spring – Daniel W. Rosenn Connections Symposium
Held two times per year, in the fall and in the spring, a moderated panel of Neurodivergent and other experts will discuss topics of interest to our community. Past themes and keynotes have included:
- Autistic professionals transforming their fields
- The intersection of race, disability, and gender
- Social and economic inclusion, de-stigmatization, and the successes of neurodiversity
- Autism and the movies
- Relationships
Sponsorship opportunities for conferences and symposiums are available approximately four months before the events.
Registration begins roughly three months before the event date.

Webinars
Webinars on a wide variety of topics of interest to the Autistic community are held roughly every other month. Expert speakers knowledgeable in the subject will answer questions posted in the chat from the audience during the live presentation.
Webinars are 90 minutes long and include a question and answer period. All webinars are recorded and can be rented and watched on AANE’s Vimeo channel.

Workshops
Workshops allow Autistic adults, teens, family members, and professionals to gain skills and a deeper understanding of autism and the Autistic community.
All workshops are:
- online
- 90 minutes long
- no medical diagnosis required to attend
- single session registration except where noted
- $10 – $25 per session with financial aid available
For those new to autism, these introductory workshops are regularly repeated.
